Bons Amigos Kap Verden

In the capital Praia, but also in other places, there are many free-roaming dogs and cats in the streets. This is often perceived as a nuisance and poses a major problem for animals and people alike.

Starting from a spontaneous initiative by Austrian vets and helpers in 2000, Bons Amigos has been working continuously ever since. We gave ourselves the name Bons Amigos, which means ‘good friends’ in Portuguese. Bons Amigos is now an association that is organised both in Austria and in Cabo Verde.

The work of Bons Amigos aims to sustainably and permanently tackle the health and hygiene problems caused by the many dogs and cats living on the streets and to improve the quality of life of people and animals alike
