Saving an animal does not change the world, but the world changes for that animal, the guiding principle of Helping animals romania. The ‘Island of Hope’ is home to around 400 dogs and cats that are cared for by Iulian and Grigoretta Mares and their team with a lot of passion, love and enormous commitment. The Austrian front woman Gerlinde is also doing an incredible job. In Bucharest, as almost everywhere in Romania, there are many street dogs and stray cats. At the Island of Hope, the animals taken in are all neutered, vaccinated, chipped, etc. and, if possible, placed with new owners. The animal shelter is constantly being renovated and improved.
